Trusting God Through It All

Hello friends,

I have grown closer to God just by realizing a few things that I would like to share with you. When we are faced with challenges and are in a place of uncertainty, it becomes more difficult to walk by faith and to trust God. My first response is often thinking of ways that I can fix the situation. In my mind, if something is broken, I need to fix it. My tendency is to solve the problem or find someone who can solve it when I cannot. Control could be playing a part in this as well. Maybe that’s why I loved Math and majored in Ceramic Engineering because I knew that an answer could be found if I just worked with the problem long enough. Growing into a young adult woman, my problems became more difficult to solve by myself or with the help of others. This is when I began to learn that even when you pray about something, you have to learn to leave it at the altar and to trust God to do the rest.

Walking by Faith

Trusting God sounds like an easy feat; however, it requires us to develop our faith walk. What do I mean by faith walk? Walking by faith is what I refer to it as. You will hear many say, “I am walking by faith”, but truly walking by faith requires complete surrender and a relationship with God. Surrendering to God means giving your will and desires to Him and trusting Him to guide you in the right direction. Pretend you are blindfolded and cannot see where you are going. Once blindfolded, you will either try to walk by yourself extending your arms and hands to access the sense of touch or you will rely on someone else to lead you. Whoever that someone is, you will have to put your trust in them to guide you safely to your destination.

Let’s use another example. Have you ever driven in a dense fog where you have zero visibility? This occurred to our family when we were driving in Oregon. The fog was so thick, we could not see. It was dark and the morning was very early as the sun had not risen yet. That fog was the scariest and most dangerous fog I have ever experienced. Somehow we made it to our destination. As the sun began to rise, the fog began to thin out little by little. Eventually, we could see enough to get us where we were headed.

Allowing God to direct our steps and being obedient to follow Him are two lessons we must learn. The challenges of life will come even if we are not completely willing to surrender. The storms of life will rage and cause us to fear and even fret for our lives. I am here to tell you that there is peace in the midst of the storm. As we mature spiritually in God, we will grow in our relationship and understanding of Him. Our heart will align with His and our desires will circumvent around His Word.

There is beauty in the trusting process. The reassurance of believing that no matter what happens, God is with me and He loves me brings us peace in the midst of turmoil. Walking by faith is easier when you fully believe and trust the Creator of your walk and your path. I trust God. I believe God.

Will you consider joining me as we walk out our paths together leaning and depending on the trinity: God the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the gift of the Holy Spirit? Below are some scriptures for your study time.

Walking by Faith and Trusting God,

Minister Denise Buckner

”Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”“

‭‭Matthew‬ ‭11‬:‭28‬-‭30‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

”Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.“

‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭7‬ ‭KJV‬‬

”For we walk by faith, not by sight.“

‭‭II Corinthians‬ ‭5‬:‭7‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

”Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.“

‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭11‬:‭1‬ ‭NKJV‬‬

'On the same day, when evening had come, He said to them, “Let us cross over to the other side.” Now when they had left the multitude, they took Him along in the boat as He was. And other little boats were also with Him. And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do You not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, “Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?” And they feared exceedingly, and said to one another, “Who can this be, that even the wind and the sea obey Him!”'
